If you’re anything like a ton of other people looking to seek their fortune online then the chances are that you’ve been dazzled. What I mean by that is you’ve been spellbound by all the promises of instant riches – the dream of working from home when you want and how you want.
Sorry to break up the party and everything, but in the true spirit of Deep Truth Marketing, I feel it my duty to shatter some of the myths that are far too frequently propagated in the world of IM (internet marketing.)
SPARKLY MYTH #1 – IM Gurus Help People – Do you know the definition of a guru in internet marketing terms. I’ll gladly tell you. A guru means a guaranteed five figures on each product launch. It’s just a marketing ploy to break down your natural defenses so the only option is to spend three or figures on the next best thing. Gurus know this. The avid ‘inner circle’ affiliates promoting the guru’s latest product launch know this too. In fact the only people that don’t know it are those that pay for the product.
SPARKLY MYTH #2 – IM Can Make Anyone A Living Online – It’s fair to say that IM has made a lot of wealthy people but its not for everyone. In fact it doesn’t work for most people. The thing is, and I’m being honest here, if you’ve failed at pretty much everything you’ve attempted so far then the chances are you’ll fail at this too. Why? Because It’s not easy. OK why else? Read on.
SPARKLY MYTH #3 – It’s Easy to Make a Lot of Money in IM – I’m going to reveal something now that is possibly not going to be too well received. It requires work. It requires determination. But most importantly it requires the ability to set attainable goals in a realistic time-scale and meet them.
I’ve got quite upset in the past when I’ve seen product launches presented as though some guy had ‘got lucky’ with a system and was now a 6 figure a year earner. It’s as if he’s releasing it so you too can reap the benefits of this ’set and forget it’ system. This leads me nicely on to sparkly myth #4.
SPARKLY MYTH #4 – You Don’t Need To Do any Research – Yep, it’s just a simple matter of copy and paste, go to sleep and log on to your paypal account in the morning and see that 4 figures have magically appeared in your account. Sorry to swear but…bullshit. You see the system created in Sparkly Myth #3 was created due to watching trends, seeing in what direction the latest launches were going and then using the results of the research to target a sub-niche within the ‘make money online’ niche where demand was at a peak.
SPARKLY MYTH #5 – Gurus Sell Products Based On Their Own Business – Now some actually do but to get the most out of the product you need to be a guru already as it requires you to have a massive list. From my research the gurus are the guys earning the big money by making “how-to” courses in their industry as opposed to focusing on just making money in their industry. In simple terms GURU: “Don’t do as I do, do as I say”
SPARKLY MYTH #6 – A Great Product Will Make Me A Lot of Money – Just because it’s great and provides a ton of information about a particular niche market doesn’t mean it’s going to make you a lot of money. You see we are back to the research topic again.
Every hugely successful product is aimed at a large hungry market. Why do you think the gurus make so much money with their product launches? Because they have created their product to match up with a hungry market.
The simple formula to ensure that you will make money from a product launch is this: offer + buyer = sales. Without a market of hungry buyers then the offer (your product) will not make many sales and will flop.
MYTH #7 – The Only Skill Needed to Make Money Online is How to Type – Actually I forgot the other essential requirement : an internet connection. How many times have you read this: “all you need is the ability to type plus an internet connection and you too can live the life of your dreams and make a fortune online.” Time to shatter this myth – there are five skills (aside from writing skills) you need to learn, or at least have a grasp of, to be successful online:
Research Skills
List Building,
Traffic Generation
Copywriting
Basic Website design.

Now you can outsource a lot of this providing you have the money to do so. However I’d recommend that you get a basic grasp of these skills, if anything else it will help you manage the projects you choose to outsource.
MYTH #8 You Can Be an Instant Success – Sorry to disappoint you here but you’ve got to learn to fail a few times at the very least before you taste real success? In fact I’d go so far as to say this : Fail as fast as possible. Why? Because so many people spend far too much of their time theorising on:
what would happen if….
how do I drive traffic to…
what PLR product should I buy next…
Treat failure as though it is part of the learning curve. You see it’s a necessary process that has to be worked through on the route to success. You see in business you never know the outcome of any strategy unless you take action and try it out for yourself.
There are many challenges ahead on the journey to make money online. Whatever happens you will find out a lot about yourself along the way. Some stuff you’ll like and some you won’t. My wish is that the journey you undertake is a successful one and one that enables you to take great pride in your accomplishments. Oh and one thing before I go…it’s not about making money it’s about helping people. If you help people and if you present the correct information to them that shows them you understand their pain and their problems you will make money online. You see its human nature to be understood. If I talk to someone and I feel that we connect and they understand me then I’m much more likely to talk to them again.

As a newbie at Internet Marketing, I found myself faced with many tasks. The very first task was to make myself understand what all the hype was about. Since that time I have ate, drank and breathed all things Internet Marketing. The list is endless there are e-books, audios,videos,tutorials,You Tube, Blogs and websites, squeeze pages, landing pages, opt-in lists, affiliate marketing, forums and lions and tigers and bears oh my! From the sheer hype alone, I could put the FBI to shame! Although I’m not as secretive as the FBI. I have many thoughts, overviews and technical information that I plan to share with you in somewhat of an organized fashion. You will be able to make money with the information that will be shared on deep truth marketing.
When you are new to internet marketing the sheer amount of information that you encounter is enough to make your eyes glaze over. I know, I’ve tried to explain to my husband , whom knows absolutely nothing about internet marketing and he gets the same look on his face. Just know that you are not alone. Anyone that is interested in making money online will go through what I call “the learning curve.” This is the period in time where at first your interest is piqued. You start to ask yourself and others if it really is possible to make money online. After all, you’ve seen those nifty pictures of earnings shots. You know the one’s-right? Usually there is a guy standing in front of his Lamborghini, parked in front of his castle. Slightly below that picture are the screen shots of his earnings. Then usually there is the subtle hint on the page that says “You can have all this too, if you only purchase my report/ guide/system/ebook!” Really now, is it all real though? How do you cut through the bs?
That is what our website, “Deep Truth Marketing” aims to tackle. We will help you cut through the bs, find the hype and promptly place the garbage in the appropriate receptacle. When you are new to Internet Marketing that task is difficult at first. There are so many new shiny, sparkly, magical ideas that seem great on a first read. However, getting to lift off and actually seeing success can be a whole other daunting task.. It is tough in the internet marketing field to find helpful friends to guide you or give advice. There are reasons for that and I will share those in a different article. For now, know that you are not completely alone. You won’t be the first nor will you be the last to figure this IM thing out.
